A little while ago, I spent a fews days doing graphic design work in an office. When Friday came around, I was ready for a good, strong drink. I mixed up these babies and it was like pouring heaven into a glass. At the time I didn’t have a martini glass (I’ve since rectified this error), so I just used a short glass which I nicknamed a lowball. This drink is juicy, tart and provides just the right amount of kick. The rest of the evening was beyond pleasant…listening to music and reading books. TGIF, indeed. This drink is also pink so it makes for a lovely drink to have on Valentine’s Day. So go ahead, toast yourself, toast your loved one or toast your cat. C’mon get happy!
the working girl’s lowball
juice from 1/2 an orange
juice from 1/2 a lime
cranberry juice (I eyeballed this…but I’ll guess 1/2 – 3/4 c)
1/2 t sugar syrup
1 oz Grand Marnier
3 oz Vodka
iceMix everything in a pretty silver cocktail shaker and then shake, shake, shake. Pour into 2 glasses and drink up at your leisure.
Mmmm…sounds nice and refreshing! Happy valentine’s day!
I’ve had a rough day at the office and I certainly could use a kick of some sort…heck, even a spoonful of maraschino cherries!
As I rarely – if ever – drink alcohol, there is nothing boozy in the house except for pure vanilla extract…LOL…so cheers to you Kickpleat, and have an extra serving for me!!
anytime is a good time for a cocktail. love it, love it!
lovely drink! I´m not allowed any right now, but this is first on the list for when I am. I love a pink drink.
Cheers to you! Sounds like a great drink.
It sounds very good to me!
and T.G.I.F., sweetie! 🙂
Even on a good day, this sounds like my new favorite libation! You certainly know how to self medicate! 😉
What a lovely color on this drink! Hey, in less than a month I can have alcohol again. Cheers!
I need one now!
Oooo…perfect for our “hey – we’ve got a pretty full liquor cabinet” night!
That sounds lovely, I’ll have to try it out!
it’s friday right now, and i’ve been working all week… i could definitely use one of these. then again, i spend all my weeks working in an office.

a virgin lowball to you, bijoux!
i couldn’t agree more, tinymango!
pink drinks are the best, i think, and i’m sure this will be a welcome treat for when you start boozing it up!
cheers, sylvie!
tgif indeed, patricia!
mevrouw, i’m sure this would be even better sitting in an amsterdam cafe…but i’m making do!
thanks aimee!
geggie, i certainly could use a 2nd!
rachael, i’ve got to start emptying some full bottles too! this is a good start.
it is lovely, grace! enjoy.
thanks michelle. perfect after any work week.
jenn, i hope you give it a try. juicy and delicious!
tania, yes, i must have the kick. and these babies have it!
This sounds so refreshing, with a kick! It’s not Friday, but I’m suddenly wanting one of these …
I hope you had a lovely Valentine’s Day!
I think I’ll add a splash of Rose’s lime juice, instead of the sugar syrup, as I have a huge bottle on hand. This sounds marvelous and if you want to make it into a long, tall one, add some diet lemon-lime and this one will last into the evening while still providing that warm glow.
I can’t wait to try this! Thank you for posting!
