It’s day 2 of our European Vacation® and look how relaxed I look on a train zipping along the beautiful Rhine River with a buttery croissant nestled lovingly in my gut. Ahh, those were the days.
Brussles, how delicious you were with your oceans of beers, your roving gypsy punk bands, your markets filled with great cheeses, sausages and breads (perfect for afternoon picnics in urban parks), and your greatest gift to the world: the Leige waffle. I adore you.
And Ghent, how can I forget you with your delicious fries topped with “stoverijsaus” (perfectly spiced meaty beer sauce) served up by Julien, a friendly proprietor who had a right to be proud of his wares.
I’ve been back since Monday night and I’ve only just begun the arduous task of uploading 35 days of photos onto Flickr. So far, I’ve only caught up to day seven. Oh my! But despite the 11 hour flight from Frankfurt and the 4 hours of sleep due to jetlag, I loved every moment of the trip. Highlights, stories and more photos to come!
Welcome back and can’t wait to hear more about your vacation!!!!
found your blog and some of your tasty recipes while u were away…. me too… wanna hear and see more…
Hey, I guess it isn’t just the canucks that are freaks about fries and gravy! Who knew?

Welcome back!!! Even though I live in Europe, I haven’t been to any of the places you just have (well, save the airport in Frankfurt), so I’m excited to hear/see more!
Hey…now we’re in the same city. Except opposite sides. =D
Good to know that you are back with us, you were missed. I expect I’ll be at Flickr for a long time to come…
Recover from your jet lag then come back and tell us ALL about it.
yay, welcome back!! ooh such lovely photos of your trip, so far – I’m LOVING the looks of that Leige waffle!! yum!! :0)
I think that you need to figure out what was in those beery fries and post a recipe, as soon as you’re able. Definitely.
I missed your blogging while you were gone!
welcome back…your photos are great…I could use some of those fries right now, yum! I am glad you had a great trip!

Welcome back! You are making me totally travelsick (er…the opposite of “homesick”). Looking forward to more pics!
What everyone else said, and also…you are so knowledgeable about food-related things. Do you know where in Vancouver I could find Bodum products? I’m trying to track down a Chocolatiere pot, and have already called the Gourmet Warehouse and Ming Wo.
I’ve started looking through your flickr picks and they are AMAZING!
I can’t wait to eat my way through the rest your trip with you as you blog it!
You have made me excited for my trip to Lisbon on saturday! I just can’t wait to eat mussels and all the great food.
I hope you had a lovely trip!
thanks everyone for your comments! being on vacation was wonderful but it’s good to be back (i guess!)
I’m a vegetarian. But at the sight of that *fries topped with “stoverijsaus”*, I actually had a craving for meat….
