While I was away in New York, you may have missed these wonderful recipes of mine over at Poppytalk.
Root & Ginger – a refreshing drink using one of my favorite hard-to-find liqueurs.
Spicy, Smoky & Sweet Glazed Almonds – a perfect cocktail snack.
Curried couscous & red lentil salad – a simple lunch with humble beginnings.
Cardamom Oat Waffles – oatmeal waffles? A less-hearty version of this popular favorite.
Tomato Basil Pizza – a classic, perfect for ripe summer tomatoes.
Mexican chocolate ice cream – a totally keeper made with whole milk and Mexican chocolate.
The Last Word – a prohibition era cocktail full of strange magic.
Sadly, ReadyMade is no more. While I was in New York, I received the heartbreaking news that the magazine that I had been buying since its first issue is no longer. There is no word on how long the website will remain up, but for now, you can take a look at the last few posts I had written in June.
Salty Sweet Coconut Walnut Granola – a salty twist to a breakfast standby.
Hotel Eats: How to Cook a Meal (or Not) in your Hotel Room
The Cuba Libre – hands down, this is my favorite cocktail.
Polenta Fries – I didn’t think polenta could get better. I was wrong.
Oh no! I’m so sad about ReadyMade. What a beautiful publication. So sad it has gone the way of so many others.
Seriously? Wow I had no idea! I do not recall hearing anything about ReadyMade folding when I got my last copy in the mail. That really is so sad as I have always used it as a source of inspiration for some of my projects.
Thank you for the delicious recipes! I see more waffles in my near future (once I can find the countertop again, ha ha!)!!!
Polenta fries?!!!! Yes. Please.
Thank you for bringing my attention to Root! Since I am in San Francisco, I have no excuse to not hunt it down myself. I love root beer but never really knew its history.
Still really bummed about ReadyMade. It’s got me thinking about media a lot. I just wish that they had switched to an online model and at least kept the blog alive.
Nicole, I know, it’s so disheartening.
Peggy, it was a super last minute decision. I’m so sad about it as a long-time reader and I was so happy to write for them too. And hooray for waffles!
Yes, those polenta fries are incredible Renee. So good.
Kimberley, hunt down a bottle. It’s delicious – I know you’d love it.
Ooh – I’ve been wanting to try to make a spicy chocolate ice cream! Thanks for the recipe!
