Yes, I said it and I did it. I made an S.T.D. sandwich and it’s fan-freakin’-tastic. Before you get your panties all tied in a knot, I’m talking Salmon Tomato Dill here and it’s the perfect lunch for this holiday weekend. The other day I mentioned barbequeing some salmon and we got a few leftovers out of it. Yesterday’s lunch was a salmon-cream cheese-dill egg scramble and today I made this with the remaining bits. I served it up with some homemade lemon iced tea and some cheezie poofs.
s.t.d. (salmon – tomato – dill) sandwich
4 slices of your favorite bread
Leftover salmon
1 tomato, cut into thick slices
1/2 c fresh dill, snipped
cream cheese
fleur du sel & pepperToast bread. Spread cream cheese on both sides and generously sprinkle dill over top. Add a couple of tomato slices to one slice of toast and sprinkle with salt & pepper. Pile on the flaked salmon and then top with the remaining toast. Makes 2 sandwiches.
This looks fantastic! I don’t like smoked salmon, so I can never get into the traditional lox and cream cheese bagel. But a grilled salmon sandwich … excellent.
ha ha ha cheesy poofs!
Now this is an S.T.D. I wouldn’t mind having 😀 😀
p.s. I sent you an e-mail
Just found your blog and you have some great-looking recipes! I had to laugh because my daughter when she was younger called cheese doodles chesey poofs and the name stuck in our family!
Sounds just delicious! We have plenty of BBQs down here (Australia) even in winter…so will be trying this one out for sure!
Now this is my dream sandwich on the weeend!
amy, it’s pretty tasty! grilled salmon is way better than smoked, in my opinion!
i couldn’t agree more, joanne!
thanks deborah. i’ve always called them “cheezies” (it must be the canadian way), but when i heard them called cheezy poofs on south park, i was hooked!
lissy, salmon on the grill is amazing! i hope you try it and use the leftovers for this sandwich. yummy!
tartelette, it’s definitely a dreamy weekend sandwich!
i am going to try these this week, but i think i will mix the dill into the cream cheese before spreading it. also, my guy always puts some lemon on salmon. yay summer!
crystal, i’m sure the sandwich will taste great….maybe even better with a squeeze of lemon! yum.
Hi! I wanted to say that your blog is awesome. I love your sense of humor, the idea of an STD sandwich is incredible, and it is so smart!
Thank you for this!
Thanks so much Astrid!
Looking for sandwich recipes for hubby’s lunch. He can’t eat tomato so what could I use in place of it on the salmon sandwich?
Dizzy, I think cucumber slices would be great here. Or spinach!
I was thinking cukes but he’ll love spinach even better. Thanks for the tip.
