today i’m gonna party like it’s my birthday…

….cuz it totally is! This year I’ll be baking a cake for myself, but not until Saturday when I’ve scheduled in a picnic party! I’ll be making the Martha Stewart yellow cake with lemon curd and chocolate frosting because it looks so friggin’ awesome. There will be sunshine (I’m willing it), root beer floats, cake and good times with amazing friends. But for today, Cornelius and I are finally going to take in the Fred Herzog exhibit at the VAG and eat some lunch time moules et frites on a patio somewhere. We might even go for a slice of cake! Enjoy the day because I sure will.

    Happy Birthday!
I just started reading your blog. It’s awesome. All the recipes are so easy. I have already made your Cabbage, Chorizo and Potatoe soup and your Peanuty Coleslaw. I am very happy to have found someone who loves cabbage as much as me! Have a great day, Beth

I made the same cake for my niece’s 4th birthday a few months ago. It turned out great, but it was a little too sweet for her. To the horror of the other children at the table, she puked right next to her plate, and said that the cake tasted like apple sauce; she doesn’t like apple sauce.

Gigantic Happy Birthday wishes to you! I love the idea of a birthday picnic. If only my own birthday wasn’t in February.
